Why Cloud Adjacency - Part 1

Cloud Adjacency Part 1

The modern enterprise is no longer bound by on-premise infrastructure, technology and applications.  It's future enablement relies on an interconnected, resilient and distributed best of breed ecosystem unifying providers, consumers and data enablers; while driving differentiation, marketshare and customer retention.

Public clouds support this new operating modeldelivering the foundation and realization of successful status quo disruption.  Organizations are recognizing the value of Cloud-first strategies and how they help accelerate velocity of reaching an ever geographically dispersed customer-base, while scaling and continuously optimizing technology costs.

However, baselining to transformed industry benchmarks such as Netflix, Uber, Shopify, AirBnb is a tall order, and a risky venture for many established cornerstone enterprises and institutions.  Realizing cloud-first strategies requires organizations to rethink how they author applications, select technologies, maintain designs and deploy workloads.   Most importantly, the key to a successful strategy is how this transformation is integrated into and embraced by the organization.

Such a journey is not only a disruption of how technology is consumed, but also on people, skills, and often times certified processes supporting necessary regulations or compliance requirements.   The cloud is great, but unless there’s dedication to getting there through a pragmatic and enabling transformation program, it’ll be a tough journey.  Organizations who haven’t stepped up to the challenge or choose to deferwill find themselves left behind, and at a competitive disadvantage.

The best investment one can make is right back into their business; modernizing processes and embracing dynamic, scalabledistributed application methods, rather than feeding deprecated technology models and ecosystems.

We see the future as multi-cloud and very hybrid.  As on-premise environments are migrated and refactored leveraging the cloud, cost modelling of those resources and investments (e.g. facilities) changes.   Staying on-prem is about to get more costly.

So now that we defined the most common barriers to digital transformation success, let's talk about what makes up the solution.

  • What if..  Organizations leverage an encompassing global ecosystem and platform to interconnect privately with their clouds, third party partners / providers.
  • What if..  Security perimeters, along with established design patterns, and curated Internet presence can be extended to the edge of cloud-native environments
  • What if..  Enterprise data governance can be reaffirmed and connected across cloud-native environments over high performance, low-latency private interconnection, without the complexity of costly transaction or egress costs commonly associated with cloud storage.

At Oncore we recognize this gap and developed an integrated ecosystem of technology and services we call - Cloud Adjacency.   By leveraging our Cloud Adjacent Method and Platform, organizations realize an enterprise-aligned digital enablement helping de-risk cloud adoption while helping foster disruption and business transformation from within.

In Part 2, we'll explore how to turn these "what ifs" into a realistic, pragmatic and tailored capability your organization can foundation a successful transformation strategy around.

Until next time..  Stay above the clouds.

Adam.
